REAL: A Program for Experienced Arts Managers and Senior Arts Administrators

Introducing Wilma Slenders, facilitator of the Rozsa Executive Arts Leadership (REAL) program. Our first year of the program was such a great success that we are launching it again this January.

In 2017, the Rozsa Foundation started a brand new Arts Leadership program in conjunction with Transcend Management Advisors. The REAL (Rozsa Executive Arts Leadership) program was designed in collaboration with senior arts leaders to address challenges and topics that are facing the arts in Alberta. After receiving very positive feedback in its first year, we are thrilled to be offering the program again in 2018.

The REAL program is facilitated by Wilma Slenders, a highly skilled strategic advisor, executive coach, and consultant in leadership and organizational effectiveness. Wilma has a proven record of success in leveraging personal and corporate transformation.

Wilma has worked with leaders of many large and small organizations, from Husky Energy and TransCanada to Mount Royal and University of Calgary; she provides a unique perspective on the leaders’ role in an organization, their relationships, and challenges.

As a certified Alberta Board Development trainer, Wilma has consulted with numerous organizations with respect to strategic planning, board development, and organization assessment. She was the Executive Director of the Alberta Association of Services for Children and Families, as well as a member of the Calgary Arts Development Authority grants committee. She currently serves as the Vice President of Dancers’ Studio West in Calgary and is the Lead of the Coaching Science Community of Practice for the International Coach Federation (ICF).

“Helping others grow and succeed is my passion. I believe that the arts and business sectors have much to learn from each other, and I am pleased to facilitate this through the Rozsa Arts Leadership Program. “

– Wilma Slenders

The REAL program is designed as a small group environment to provide a built-in support network for all the participants, which makes it stand out in comparison to our other arts leadership programs. Graduates from the program build capacity and knowledge, networking skills, and strengthen their commitment to their community and organizations.

The program provides a unique context for experienced arts leaders looking to take their skills to a higher level. The interactive learning environment - where participants learn from each other, the facilitator, and guest speakers - utilizes hands on experiential learning and peer-to-peer mentoring techniques to increase capacity and capability.

The next REAL sessions begin in January 2018, the deadline to apply is November 30th, 2017. Apply today by visiting our website!
