Mapping Arts Programs for Seniors in Treaty 7 Territory

The Rozsa Foundation is currently exploring how arts experiences could become part of social prescribing program in our region. Working with partners such as CARYA and Healthy Aging Alberta, we are looking at how older adults experiencing loneliness or isolation might be referred into arts and cultural activities that support connection, creativity, and wellbeing.

As part of this work, we are mapping existing arts programs for seniors in Treaty 7 territory. We want to understand what is already happening across the arts community and where seniors are already gathering to create, move, listen, and connect.

If your organization offers programs specifically designed for older adults or seniors, we would love to hear about them.

In particular, it would be helpful to know:

  • What kind of arts activity the program involves (visual art, music, theatre, dance/movement, etc.)

  • Whether the program includes social components, such as time for discussion, conversation, or informal mingling

  • Whether sessions are facilitated or guided, and by whom

  • When the program typically runs (daytime/evening, recurring series, etc.)

  • Whether the program could potentially welcome participants referred by community partners

If you run a program like this, please send a short description and any relevant links to lisa@rozsafoundation.com.

This information will help us better understand the existing ecosystem of arts experiences for older adults and explore how the arts sector might play a stronger role in supporting community wellbeing.
