ABOUT THE ROZSA AWARDS

Created in 2002 to honour the philanthropic efforts of Drs. Ted and Lola Rozsa, the Rozsa Awards is an annual event recognizing and supporting the individual and collective excellence of arts managers, board chairs and their organizations. The awards were created to address the realities of those who found themselves “behind the scenes” with little official arts management training or support. To address these realities, the Rozsa Award for Excellence in Arts Management was created to celebrate arts administrators and to make the field more attractive for future leaders.

Building on the Rozsa Award for Excellence in Arts Management, the Rozsa Award for Excellence in Board Leadership was created in 2019 to recognize the contributions of arts boards with an emphasis on the role of the board chair.

Unique in Canada, the Rozsa Awards are highly sought-after prizes because of the value and variety of benefits they provide. Through the provision of a monetary prize, public profile, and educational and professional development opportunities thanks to our valued partnerships; the Rozsa Awards combine recognition of individual excellence and support for the recipients' arts organizations.

Thanks to our generous partners including the Alberta School of Business at the University of Alberta, Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, CKUA Radio Network, GOOD Company, Roadwest Pictures, Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary, Ross W Marsh Consulting, Transcend Management Advisors Inc and Vital Business Systems, as well as all other valued partners over the past 16 years, to date, the Foundation has distributed over 1 million dollars in benefits to our award recipients and their organizations across Alberta.
